27 Sep Grand Prix with homework – Werth debuts Gut Wettlkam’s D’avie FRH, Kittel wins on Zoulmate
(Hagen a.T.W.) The autumn show at Hof Kasselmann is known to be a popular opportunity for riders to present young horses or try something new. This was also the case today in the Prize of Performance Sales International, CDI 3* Grand Prix. Swedish rider Patrik Kittel won with 73.326 per cent on the Westphalian stallion Zoulmate by Zack. In second place was a horse and rider combination that had never been seen together in a competition before: Olympic champion Isabell Werth presented the former double world champion of young dressage horses, Gut Wettlkam’s D’avie FRH, owned by her pupil Lisa Müller. The pair received 72.957 per cent for their joint premiere.
Homework for Saturday
“Because sometimes it’s easier to support and help when you’ve got the feeling in the test,” said Werth, explaining the change of rider. It was very good and important to feel D’Avie in the test herself. ‘Simply to be able to give Lisa a few more crucial tips and to stabilise D’Avie even more. That was a good result!’ Werth explained that she had already ridden the twelve-year-old son of Don Juan de Hus a few times in training, but the decision to ride in the three-star tour this weekend was a very spontaneous one. ‘I was very satisfied for this short run-up and yet there is still a lot of room for improvement – especially with regard to the ‘little details’ and the ‘asking in the test’. I’m taking a lot of homework from the test with me for the Special and hope to be able to improve again tomorrow. Everything is there with the horse and I was able to start riding straight away. Now it’s all about fine-tuning, which could make the difference between a 7, 8 or even a 9.’ For the Grand Prix Special on Saturday at 17:10 pm, one of her aims is to ‘get the passage even shorter and quicker’. Werth added with a smile: “It’s no secret that I think D’Avie is exceptionally talented. I have always enjoyed riding him.”
Further placings
Werth’s pupil Lisa Müller piloted Gut Wettlkam’s Zonik Hit OLD to third place with 68.761 per cent. Evelyn Eger and Gossip Girl received the same result, but the lower average of their scores decided the placing. The afternoon programme of the Covalliero Dressage Days features the current Grand Prix of the four-star tour, the U25 Grand Prix and a national Inter II. Clipmyhorse.TV will be broadcasting live from Hagen.
